Rules of use

All environments have their own ideal and appropriate lighting. The correct use of energy is first and foremost an act of environmental care, but is also an essential requirement for saving money, based on a series of good habits and practices that may be far from obvious:

  • Whenever possible, replace incandescent light bulbs with energy saving light bulbs
  • Choose your appliance on the basis of the place of installation and the type of lamp to be used.
  • Avoid installing appliances in places where there is a considerable presence of water, such as beside swimming pools or close to irrigation systems, because a high limestone or saline density can cause substantial damage to paint and metals.
  • When paint is damaged, it usually happens during installation. It is therefore important to be very careful while tightening the various nuts and bolts: excessive force may damage the paint, even if not in an evident manner, and this would cause the appliance to deteriorate rapidly.
  • If the poles are installed in the ground, create a suitable plinth and fix the base into place, preventing it from being housed in direct contact with the soil or greenery around it.
  • All the appliances must be installed by qualified personnel in observance of the Ministerial Decree 37/08.

Wall area lights or Hanging Lights

  • Installation should always be made according to the indications given in the assembly instructions found in the box.
  • All appliances installed outside need to be maintained periodically; we recommend this be done twice a year. An application of silicone spray allows the product to return to its original shine, the paint to be protected and the anchoring screws prevented from rusting.
  • In the event of damage immediately replace the ruined parts, thus preventing dust and insects from entering, which could cause the water drainage holes to become clogged.
  • When dismantling, before forcing the screws, soften any incrustation by means of a lubricating product.

To ensure that the screws can be loosened over time, we recommend you use an anti-seizing agent on the threaded surface.

Floor appliances

Installation should always be carried out as indicated in the assembly instructions inside the box.

  • Where necessary, the appliances are complete with accessories for installation on the ground (attachment triangle or template).
  • It is important that the connection of the mains cable is made observing the norms in force. Therefore, if the connection is made in the well, a watertight joint must be used that prevents the entry of the cable into the terminal board, thus causing damage to the system.

Recessed wall or floor lights

Installation should always be made according to the indications given in the assembly instructions found in the box. Provide a suitable drainage system for wall models, to avoid the appliance from remaining immersed in water: residues of limestone or of corrosive substances may in fact cause serious damage to the aluminium and of the paint.
We recommend the use of H07RN8-F cables in neoprene rubber, with an adequate cross-section such as to ensure the correct connection of the cable gland, so as to prevent infiltrations and deterioration of the cable itself.

When dismantling, before forcing the screws, soften any incrustation by means of a lubricating product. To ensure that the screws can be loosened over time, we recommend you use an anti-seizing agent on the threaded surface.
Because the paint of the finish is subject to ageing, we recommend that maintenance be performed on all appliances twice a year. An application of silicone spray allows the product to return to its original shine, the paint to be protected and the anchoring screws prevented from rusting.

Montaggio incassi Livos & Sovil
Models that can be WALKED ON require particular care and attention during installation. It is essential that the housing in the ground provides appropriate and effective draining of the water that usually collects around the point of installation. If suitable measures are not taken to prevent water from collecting and stagnating, problems connected with the infiltration of water inside the products will certainly arise.
Hurried and badly arranged positioning is synonymous with difficulties and failures in operation of the appliances and of the system, and will result in the loss and withdrawal of the manufacturer’s guarantee.

In order to avoid problems of this kind and encourage a correct installation, we suggest that a few guidelines be followed:

  • Place of installation: tt is essential to properly choose the place where the recessed light will be positioned before starting to dig the hole. Make absolutely sure that it is not installed in ground with hollows or holes.
  • Type of ground: clay and compact soils offer little dispersion of surface waters. In these cases we recommend you drain and dig an area around the place of installation that is much bigger than what would normally be needed for gravelly or sandy soils.
  • Digging and laying operations: dig a large hole around the place of installation, with a width of 40/50 cm and a depth of 80/100 cm. Fill the bottom of the hole up to the height of 50 cm with a mixture of gravel and sand. Add another layer of medium-coarse sand and flood the hole with water. Mechanically compact everything in order to properly compress the base created. Insert a prefabricated well (40x40x40 cm approx.), making sure that the external side sits level with the earth and is slightly higher. This will make it possible to make the connections, maintaining the position of the light approximately 2/3 com higher than ground level. Use well-packed gravel and sand to reinstate the part around the well. Insert the counter-base in plastic that will house the actual light within the well.
Position it on top of a series of suitably arranged bricks. Fill the outer part of the light-holder with sand and gravel. The supply cables will arrive under the light-holder space so as to thus be connected to the recessed light that will be comfortably housed in its seat.

IP (Ingress Protection Rating)

The CEI 70-I (EN 60529) standard establishes a system for classifying electrical appliances on the basis of the degree of protection provided by the casings themselves.
The symbols used to indicate this degree of protection are composed of the letters IP, followed by two characteristic numerals:

1st characteristic numeral – protection against penetration of solid bodies and dust

IP1..

Protection against solid bodies with dimensions greater than 50mm.

IP2..

Protection against solid bodies with dimensions greater than 12mm.

IP3..

Protection against solid bodies with dimensions greater than 2,5mm.

IP4..

Protection against solid bodies with dimensions greater than 1mm.

IP5..

Protection against dust (no harmful deposits).

IP6..

Total protection against dust (no penetration).

2nd characteristic numeral - protection against the penetration of liquids.

IP..1

Total penetration against drops of water falling from above.

IP..2

Protection against drops of water falling up to a 15° angle.

IP..3

Protection against rain falling up to a 60° angle.

IP..4

Protection against sprays of water from all directions.

IP..5

Protection against jets of water from all directions.

IP..6

Protection again jets of water under pressure.

Example: IP43 - Appliance protected against solid bodies greater than 1mm and protected against rain.
